High Radiation Levels from Fukushima hit US West Coast!

After the Fall…

I’ve written a good bit lately about the challenges we are all facing.  Even though today is Christmas, the tension seems to be mounting and some folks appear to be stumbling on the path (notice I said appear!).  So I want to talk about how to keep going in spite of our challenges– to move through them and make progress toward our goals.

We have a special role here on this little blue planet we call Earth– as spirits having a human experience, we are also and forever Spiritual Warriors.  Therefore, like any other warriors in any other trenches in any other wars, we’re supported by our High Command– a bountiful and benevolent Universe.  What do we need?  Better rations?  Medical supplies? Improved radio equipment?  Or just instructions for the next piece of action?  We have only to contact High Command and ask.  It’s all there for us.  The only thing we are required to do in exchange is… you’ve got it!  Keep on fighting.  Sometimes we’ll lose a battle.  Sometimes we’ll win one.  Sometimes it’ll look like a tie.  But this is not about winning or losing conflicts with some external enemy– this war is one we wage with the fearful part of our human selves.  Why do we fight?  Because we have a job to do here, and that is to become part of HIgh Command’s support system for other spiritual warriors who haven’t figured out that’s what they are yet.

Yesterday one of my students and fellow warriors sent me a link to this wonderful article about the Indian Goddess Ahkilandeshvari– whose name means “Always Broken Goddess.”

Now, I don’t channel goddesses– at least not yet– and I’m not particularly trusting of crocodiles.  But I like Julie Peters’ explanation of how the Always Broken Goddess keeps recreating herself, climbing back on that crocodile, and carrying on no matter what.  I like it because I know it’s possible.  I know we can do this, because I’ve done it myself and survived.

Right now, this very day, some of us are dealing with health problems.  Some are challenged in their relationships with others (which can seem even more distressing during the  holidays).  Some are facing what they believe may be the destruction of their fondest hopes and dreams– a perfect job, an academic degree, a much-coveted move to a new and more exciting locale.  It may look like we will never heal, never find the perfect partner, never get where we most want to go in our lives.  But you know what?  That’s just an illusion.  Everything we want to be is what we already are, and we already have exactly what we most want and need.  All we have to do is get up off the floor, gather those little pieces of ourselves, climb back on that crocodile, and look around.

Ahkilanda shows us, through her own resiliency, that we are actually indestructible– no matter how “broken” we may feel.  And from the back of the crocodile, there’s a whole new world of possibilities to be seen.

Sun’s “Flip” Changing Human Consciousness?

NASA offers a plausible explanation for the challenges many of us have been experiencing over the past few months in a recent article published by The Mind Unleashed:  http://themindunleashed.org/2013/12/suns-field-will-flip-upside-within-weeks-says-nasa.html

It appears that intense solar activity, such as the reversal of the sun’s polarity (which happens every 11 years), does affect our geomagnetic field, resulting in increased agitation and activity.  If we review global events over the past 12 years, we can track the truth of this theory– beginning with what happened during the fall of 2001 (the 9-ll phenomena) right up to the recent political and financial upheavals experienced here in North America and around the world.  Many of us are experiencing personal “geomagnetic storms” as well.

In my last blog, “Kick-Ass Angels,” I mentioned the need for care of self, care of others, and the importance of grounding our connection to our spiritual source during these challenging times.  We may not always be able to see the reason for a particular setback, but it can help to know that such setbacks are more or less universal and  may be inspired not by a vindictive deity seeking to punish us for past “misdeeds” but by a shift in the energy of a benevolent universe seeking to raise us to a compatible level of consciousness.

Here’s an excerpt from the Mind Unleased article by spiritual counselor and corporate motivational speaker Michael Forrester:

Photonic Energy Inevitably Affects Consciousness And Influences Our Health

While the mechanism behind the stimulation of human behavior is still a mystery, many are now accepting that humanity is receiving the highest support from the consciousness of the cosmos, allowing us to wake up to our magnificence and divine connection to each other and the universe. The Sun is only assisting in this inevitable process.

It will be traumatic for many when those revelations of why human consciousness if shifting at the same time major changes are being introduced. Knowing that all of the confusion and turmoil is heralding Earth’s exit from third density, how will we be prepared to weather the coming months and to help those who are foundering. The interesting fact about this energy is that since it is of a higher frequency it creates the power of instant manifestation of our thoughts, which means whatever we think, we create instantly. This never before happened in our lifetime and that is why many people are writing books on the subject on the Power of Attraction. Photonic energy connects to our thoughts so it is important that we know what we want, rather than we don’t want, otherwise, we will manifest more of what we don’t want. If you are in the process of change and transformation this energy works well for you. On the other hand, if you are stuck in the past through victimization and anger, you will simply manifest more reasons to remain stuck in victimization until you are ready to release it.There is some Russian research that shows an increase in cardiac problems during sunspot maxima. The solar activity probably sets off a preexisting condition and no one is suggesting that people will drop dead in the streets. We could see the stress of solar activity on the biology of living things as an evolutionary agent weeding out the old and sick and strengthening those who can resonate with its radiations. There will also be an increased frequency of deaths worldwide following the solar maxima. These may take place through accidents, illness and other factors which will be attributed to chance, however most of these deaths will be related to an acceleration of consciousness and self-imposed termination for those not willing or ready to experience a fourth dimensional experience. Professor d’Arsonval gives several examples of research done in the last hundred years that shows the most malefic effects from solar activity come at the sunspot minima. He notes from the British Medical Journal, March 7th & 14th of 1936 that both Colonel C.A. Gill and Dr. Conyers Morrel found increases in pandemics of deadly diseases during the period of minimal sunspot activity. In Gill’s study he showed that every pandemic of malaria since sunspot records were taken had occurred when sunspot numbers were lowest. Similar trends were observed in East Africa and elsewhere with Yellow fever epidemics since 1800 occur during the sunspot minima. Dr. Conyers Morrel also finds that, “…waves of epidemic diseases covering considerable periods exhibit a very close correspondence with the phases of sunspot periods. Diphtheria, Typhus, and Dysentery seemed to prosper when there was an absence of solar activity. We also see an increase in disease in Solco W. Tromp’s study. Without the stimulation from the Sun human health seems to diminish. The immune system seems to grow unresponsive during the solar lull and diseases can more easily gain a foothold in the body. Not only human health but Life itself seems hampered by the lack of solar activity. William Hershel wrote in 1801, “It seems probable analyzing the period between 1650 and 1713, and judging by the normal yields of wheat, that a scarcity of vegetation occurred whenever the sun appeared to be free from spots.” The depressed state of metabolism and lack of food in agricultural centers may have seemed very inviting to the Mongols. Goncharov, in an abstract on the “Asian Nomadic Invasions and Solar Cycles”, aid, “From the 4th to the 16th centuries the Central Asian Steepe was the cradle of the series of great nomadic tribal invasions into agricultural regions of Europe, China, and South Asia. Those invasions had similar features. They arose in middle latitudes and recurred every 160-220 years — exactly after solar abatements.”What we will be experiencing in 2013 and 2014 more than anything else is a constant upgrade to our current belief systems, collective consciousness and awareness of earth’s true history from the constant bombardment of solar activity. There will be no more major wars but a shift with no central ideology. This ideology will grow and spread worldwide with no exception. The shared understanding is arising from different economic sectors, cultures and regions. Our economic landscape will change, and although a planned one-world currency will be enacted, we will quickly dismiss this new system within a short period of time and move toward non-monetary systems. All these information packets from the Sun will make us feel like we need to find a new center of truth. As galactic connections have increased around the 2012 summer solstice and then again for the universal collective around the 2012 winter solstice, we must all listen intently to our intuition and trust it. Each solstice in 2013 and 2014 will represent new elevated levels if awareness. If it doesn’t feel right, switch over to something that does. It’s that simple.

Kick-Ass Angels…or How To Survive Chaos in Turbulent Times

Kick-Ass Angels… or How to Survive Chaos in Turbulent Times

Valentine McKay-Riddell, PhD

The other day during a session with one of my students, the conversation veered into how to survive “turbulent times.”  Since I’ve had considerable experience with this particular challenge I decided to share what I’ve learned with her—and with you.

At a friend’s suggestion I recently opened the door—and my heart—to a visit from five powerful Archangels (named here in case you should receive the same invitation):

Archangel Michael

Archangel Gabriel

Archangel Rafael

Archangel Uriel

Archangel Metatron

I am a “born-again” Pagan and eclectic spiritual counselor, but as an Irish Catholic child I was no stranger to Angels.  I prayed to my Guardian Angel every night and have certainly led a rather charmed life, so someone’s been working on my behalf all this time.  Nevertheless, this past year has been more challenging than usual, and I thought hosting five Archangels might improve the energy.  I built a beautiful altar, decorated it with a photo of each Archangel, fresh flowers, candles, crystals, and shells, and breathlessly awaited the arrival of my celestial visitors, certain that their visit would result in an amazing assortment of blessings, gifts, and tips on how to reach Nirvana in five easy lessons.

Little did I know that these are the top five Ninjas in God’s Army.  And since one of the three wishes I’d been told I could make was a wish for the opportunity to create positive change and growth in every area of my life, I shouldn’t have been surprised when things started happening…but I was.

The Angels arrived on November 4.  They stayed until November 9, when I sent them on to three unsuspecting and equally hopeful friends.  On November 13 I had the third interview for a core faculty position with a Bay Area school at which I’d love to teach, leaving me with great excitement and high hopes.  That evening I thanked the Angels for their gift and prepared to sit back and enjoy whatever further blessings were immanent.  The next day all hell broke loose.  A serious financial deadline came due with no way to pay, necessitating frantic calls to a local legal services provider; I discovered that a professional colleague wasn’t quite as open and above board as previously thought; and my stomach—always the first canary in the mine of personal stress—began to react.

Later on, after I’d managed to find the money needed to pay the debt and the dust began to settle, I wondered what on earth had gone wrong.  How could five Angels—Archangels no less—be so tough?  But after giving the situation a little more thought I realized that I had received exactly the opportunity to create positive change and growth that I’d asked for.  Nobody can move into the future with a huge debt hanging over their heads.  In a rather harsh way, this unpleasant event forced me to take a good look at my obligations and deal responsibly with them.

As for the five heavenly Ninjas, one of the three friends to whom I “paid the Angels forward” had a very pleasant and calm visit; while a second friend reported emotional, physical, and financial earthquakes that resulted in major life-changing decisions; and the third friend hasn’t been heard of since his Angels were sent.  (Heaven knows what’s happened to him!)

Angels or no Angels, it is very clear that we are indeed in the midst of a major “reset” of our priorities, our ways of thinking and being in the world.

Shamanic teachers Jose’ and Lena Stevens send New and Full Moon updates and a monthly forecast to everyone on their email list.  For many months they have been warning those of us who didn’t get around earlier to reading Nostradamus’ dire predictions that this would be a time of great change.  And in case you’re not into shamanic predictions, lunar updates, or the ramblings of mad monks, just look around at the crazy weather, bizarre political scenarios, state of the economy, global uprisings, and violence right here at home.  Clearly this is not the world we’ve inhabited for half a lifetime or more.

How to survive such chaos?

  • First of all, as the Greek philosopher Epictetus once wrote, we must look our challenges in the eye and see them for what they are.  Only then we can act in the best way available to us.
  • Next, we need to take care of ourselves.  Healthy food, plenty of rest, time to play, the company of good friends, and quiet downtime for reflection are a must—especially during the stressful holiday season.  Even in a good year, the holidays push us to rush around, overspend, overindulge, and take on far more than we can comfortably handle.  This year in particular it’s important to pay attention to the little body signals that tell us it’s time to stop and breathe.
  • Then we’ll want to take care of each other.  Relationships are often challenged during difficult times.  It’s as though we believe that if he hadn’t done this, if she hadn’t said that, if they had been less rude, kinder, more thoughtful, etc., our lives would be perfect.  Fact is, other people’s thoughts and actions really have very little to do with us.  Most people are thinking about themselves much of the time, and almost anything they might think or say about us is really about them—it’s called projection.  If we can remember that and bite our tongues before lashing out in anger or self-defense, we’ll avoid a lot of grief.  Breathing deeply and slowly while counting to ten, or even just walking away till everyone has calmed down, has saved many a relationship—and a life!
  • Finally, and probably most important, we need to strengthen our ties to Spirit, whatever name we give that source of inspiration and guidance.  Whether it’s God, Jesus, Buddha, Great Spirit, Source, Creator, Pagan gods or goddesses, angels, ancestors, animal guides, fairies, or spirits of earth and sea, our rituals of worship and connection will ground us in the present moment, and that is the best place to be at any time, turbulent or no.

Meanwhile, help is at hand, even without Angels!
